ART is the BREATH of a DANCE on an ECHO
Like the LIGHT and the DARK of Rhythm Seasons
FULL of LOVE More than Reasons
COLOR me INTEGRITY!!!
CAUSE we are...
JOY and RAGE...
EXULTANT
Beyond the STAGES
of All our PAGES
Fluttering in the Breeze
Over the SEAS and the SEIZE
of my DESIRE that would CONSPIRE
to MAGNIFY Harmonic Oceans
GALACTIC and SCULPTED
to ENTER
Instrumental
Elemental
ESSENCE
of LIFEFORCE

(Design Credit: I originally drew this image 2012.
Then I scanned it so that Custom Ink could make it print-ready.
The poem could only fit by doubling the lines, and adding dots for
breath and breadth, but I actually like it this way, circulating layers.
The poem itself was written in the '90s.
Just a few later adds to make multiple meanings more obvious.)
I also like presenting this poem with rainbow lettering,
but that's not a current convenient option here yet. Wink Wink!

There is a Freedom in the Dance ~
The Freedom to
Trace the Air
and receive the Inspirations
that only Your Life can share!
Feeling to FORM
becomes Healing
and Vibrant Energies
to Transform
~ to Trance Form ~
All our Senses
Like Magical Lenses
For we are far, far more
than what we think we are here for...
And may it always be restored
as we pour
our Essences of Romance
into The Music
and into
The Dance!
(Design Credit: I printed out this 2005 poem for a chap book idea,
then at the print/copy shop where I had worked, I made about 40+ photocopy swish-swirl attempts on the platen to get a shape I liked!
Later I added the stars and notes for merchandise projects)

(In response to R.E.M.’s radio hit song "Losing My Religion")
I say “To MY Decision, MY Religion”
Wounded by my needs. Now the need to bleed, So I can heal, So I can feel, once again...
Now to Decisions. Decisions, for me and you, for you and me, that I must make.
The Open Doors that I will take, All the Opinions I might fake, the vows I break, the boughs I shake,
will take us Further. Further than you or I can see… into a Future, that elusive Future.
What will it bring? Bring to me, and let me see, More of life.
But will I want it? What do I want?
I am confusion, amongst illusion. Lifelong illusions.
But life is short. What is the Truth?
Cuz I know pain, and I know gain. I've felt the sun; I feel the rain.
And love has shown me hate; and Time in time opened up the gate,
the gates of Hell, from which I yell, to all of Heaven for which I hope.
And hope has taught me how to cope,
though I wanted to give up many times.
I am saved unto this day. But I still find the need to pray.
And my religion is like a garden, full of blooms and full of weeds.
If I leave it unattended, you'll find me choking on my knees,
for a breath. The breath of Life.
And Life, I hear, is a precious thing.
The birds, the bees, the earth, the trees,
the sun, moon, stars, and cosmic breeze...
Let all creatures sing!
But I was thinking of life's sting,
and how deeply do I cherish
all these things that someday perish?
Cuz when I think that it's all vanity,
I question the whole world's sanity,
but especially my own.
All alone,
and all I own.
There's a man.
Says he's in the corner,
singing a song.
How appropriate it feels.
I sing along,
But he's losing his religion, and he sets it up.
Yeah, He's all set up,
for fame and fortune, in his simple tune;
trying to keep a view, and we don't know if he can do it.
Still somehow I feel grateful, because he helps me to see my soul.
There it is. I am the Thinker,
thinking of life, and all its questions
cueing peace or strife, in every nation,
these questions aren't black or white.
Still they fight, when all the answers may be fairer without our sight.
All alone, and all I own.
But I own nothing more than
heart and mind and soul.
Still I'm not (the) whole.
I am a part in all completion, but not completion in all its parts.
Now which direction towards Perfection?
And what is "perfect" man?
For man is far too far from perfect.
From whose Great Expectations? We fall from our elation.
But we need love and laughter to survive.
No, I mean to THRIVE. Cuz to survive, we all strive.
Yeah, I think I thought I saw you try.
Do I trust my eye?
There are lies. Lies and deceptions, circling around,
to be found. And they're found, in the places,
where you least expect them.
But here is life.
Life is an exception
to all the dreams that you dream,
and all the other things it seems.
It seems to be, or not to be.
And you are not me. It's true;
the diff-er-ence will manifest its self.
In your choice, my choice, the variables, turning tables around.
It is the sound of voices past, resonating as life repeats… History…
as we never knew it: Ancestors longing to be FREE,
bound by the mysteries of Life;
Our greatest scholars received with strife,
and with superstitions our lives are still rife.
And the context that I come from…
doesn't play in your brain.
Can you love? Can you care?
For someone who suffers pain,
or offers little to your immediate gain?
And as you judge me, I know you judge me, you criticize yourself.
Though my actions and though my words betray just a shadow of myself.
Cuz every time I speak, I feel my spirit leak.
Incriminate my reputation. What new form of deviation?
Wisdom, through trial and error.
And looking in the mirror... of our actions.
As we search for satisfaction,
with Faith, to seal our fates.
And all I am, all that is me,
I give to my decisions.
Pray, not to my derision.
Do I glorify my God?
The life I trod, with steps unsteady. Oh Lord can I be ready?
I have sinned... We all are sinners, but I'm told You love us still.
And I believe it. I believe it. I believe in This Great Will,
though I only know a glimpse of it.
Can you believe that I believe? What do you perceive?
In this fleshly heart of mine... Can your love find a place this time?
Quench not the Spirit.
Please be sure I hear it.
How will I know what to do!
Or my Father, and dearest Mother,
Is that My Decision too?
I hear a sermon.
It is a sermon that You didn't give.
But how long will that sermon live?
to count up victims one by one...
I watch the setting, sinking sun,
and hold in my heart the coming dawn.
Do you feel the hope, hear in my song?
Thanks for the LOVE.
And thank you for the Spirit, as you endear it,
the inscription in our hearts, your holiest art.
Now I praise You, for the work you've done,
for you have truly won!
Won my heart and soul. Inspired by your love,
I give to you, Dear One, Above.
But if I err, as foolish Cain did to Abel,
Please show me your Healthier Way.
And in your mercy, Your Great Mercy,
Please teach me how to Obey.
So now I go.
Now to decisions...
Amen, So be it, Each day.

" IF" by Rudyard Kipling
If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:
If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you've given your life to, broken,
And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools:
If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: ‘Hold on!’
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!

IT COULDN'T BE DONE
by Edgar Albert Guest
Somebody said that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!
Somebody scoffed: “Oh, you’ll never do that;
At least no one ever has done it;”
But he took off his coat and he took off his hat
And the first thing we knew he’d begun it.
With a lift of his chin and a bit of a grin,
Without any doubting or quiddit,
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it.
There are thousands to tell you it cannot be done,
There are thousands to prophesy failure,
There are thousands to point out to you one by one,
The dangers that wait to assail you.
But just buckle in with a bit of a grin,
Just take off your coat and go to it;
Just start in to sing as you tackle the thing
That “cannot be done,” and you’ll do it.

Go placidly amid the noise and the haste, and remember
what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible,
without surrender, be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others,
even to the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons; they are vexatious to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter,
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs,
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals, and
everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment, it is as perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be.
And whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.
